"Bridesmaids" Chelsey Mahoney

Bridesmaids is known to be the funniest comedy of 2011, with hilarious actresses like Rebel Wilson and Maya Rudolph you are going to be laughing the whole time.  I believe Bridesmaids is the most commonly quoted movie in several years. It’s about a real life situation, best friends growing apart, because one of them is getting married. The friend who isn’t getting married might not have the right someone in his or her life, and could be feeling left out.  This situation could relate to both genders, but having it as a girl comedy movie makes it even more powerful. Most all comedy movies have strong male actors in it to make it really fun, but to have basically an all-female cast makes the movie ten time more popular.  In the actual movie female dominate, and you can see this with the movie cast http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1478338/fullcredits. Bridesmaids has a lot of positive reviews, and most parents give the approval for their children to watch it even though it’s a rated-R comedy.  Parents say that you should be 17 years old to watch the movie, and kids say 15. It does have a lot of graphic scenes, but scenes that a 15 year old is going to have seen before growing up in today’s world.  I agree, with the kids’ age of 15, because it’s some of the graphic scenes that are funny, and meant to be a joke. You can check out more about the movie, and about more reviews with this site http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/bridesmaids.  The movie Bridesmaids was such a big hit that it was compared to the Hangover, which received 5 stars. Most people call Bridesmaids the female Hangover, which I think is accurate. My favorite part of the movie is when Rebel Wilson who is Brynn in the movie, comes home with a free tattoo of a Mexican drinking worm that extremely infected. Now I think it’s her accent that makes the part ten times funnier, but it makes me laugh every time I hear it. What are some of your favorite parts of the movie, and if you have one why is it your favorite?

  1. hello chelsey,
I loved your blog entry! Bridesmaids is one of my favorite movies. I agree that it is one of the most quoted movies in several years. My favorite part of the movie is when they are trying on all the dresses in that fancy store and they all get food poisoning. "The sink is a goner!" that quote in particular is my favorite! I also agree that 15 year olds should be able to watch the movie. Now a days they're worse things on television that they have the ability to see so why shouldn't 15 year olds be able to watch bridesmaids? The movie is just mostly funny it doesn't have enough explicit content to be rated R. Do you have any other favorite movies? How many times have you seen the movie?

  2. I agree with you when it comes to 15 year olds watching the movie. Most of the graphic scenes in this movie aren't even as bad as most movies, television shows, and even songs these days; and like you said; in the movie they are ment to be funny, which is why it is so quoted and popular. After all, who doesn't love a new a**hole?
